While mobile sports gambling continues to surge in popularity, there is still considerable support for in-person sports betting. This is typically done at a casino or retail sportsbook, though in recent years, off-track horse betting locations have applied for sports betting licenses to supplement racing revenues, especially when domestic racing is out of season.
Here, we’ve listed all Michigan sports betting locations, as well as highlighted key information to know about future arrivals. We have also addressed some of the other key points of MI sports betting laws, including registration info, tax details, and sports availability.
Please note that throughout this piece, we will use the phrases “retail” and “in-person” sports betting synonymously. While there are subtle differences between the two, the terms are becoming colloquially interchangeable, and our goal is to provide as full a list on this page as possible.
List of all retail sportsbooks in Michigan
What types of sports betting locations exist in Michigan?
There are three types of sports betting locations that can exist in Michigan. However, as you’ll soon find out, one location type accounts for the bulk of the industry.
Retail sportsbooks
Retail sportsbooks are somewhat rare, as by definition, they must be owned by the sports betting company. Typically, they partner with sports arenas to establish their physical presence. In Michigan, this would be PointsBet Sportsbook at Little Caesars Arena.
Casinos
Casino sportsbooks run in two ways: either through a partnership between the betting operator and the casino or as a casino-branded operative. For example, Bay Mills Resort Casino partnered with DraftKings Sportsbook. However, you won’t be able to find Little River Sportsbook anywhere other than Little River Casino Resort, even though BetRivers also operates out of the Little River venue.
Racetracks
In other states, it’s not uncommon for racetracks or off-track betting (OTB) venues to partner with sportsbooks to install kiosks at their facilities. However, Michigan does not have any remaining racetracks or OTBs available for sports gamblers.
Are there any more sports betting locations opening in Michigan soon?
No, there aren’t any more sports betting locations opening in Michigan soon. However, there are certainly opportunities for partnerships.
In particular, PointsBet (now rebranded as Fanatics Sportsbook) had partnered with the Detroit Tigers. BetMGM also has a Tigers partnership deal in effect. Either operator could establish a retail presence at or near Comerica Park to further their retail presences in Michigan.
