About Gun Lake Casino in Michigan

The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians first began planning to open Gun Lake Casino in 2001. However, the Tribe encountered numerous legal hurdles under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA).

It wasn’t until 2005 that the Gun Lake Tribe received the clearance required to begin building the gambling facility. With the red tape cleared, construction finally broke ground, and Gun Lake Casino opened in 2011.

As impressive as the Michigan casino is today, the Tribe is continuing to improve its operation. A four diamond hotel is under construction and is scheduled to open in March 2025. The hotel will have 252 rooms and will cost $300 million to complete.

As is the case with most casinos, slot machines dominate the gaming floor. Gun Lake Casino boasts more than 2,500 slots, with games available in a wide range of denominations, as well as progressive jackpot machines.

Gun Lake Casino also offers table games and a state-of-the-art poker room. The poker room is open throughout most of the week, but it is closed from 4:00 AM to 10:00 AM on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays.
