About Island Resort & Casino in MI

Island Resort & Casino is owned and operated by the Hannahville Indian Community, a federally recognized Potawatomi Indian Tribe. In 1981, the Tribe opened what was then known as the Hannahville Bingo Hall to raise money for the community baseball team.

Today, Island Resort & Casino still offers bingo games but has also expanded to offer table games, poker, sports betting, and more than 1,100 slot machines on its gaming floor.

The resort is also home to an 18-hole golf course, known as “Sweetgrass.”In 2021, Sweetgrass was named the Michigan Course of the Year.

Island Resort & Casino is also a frequent stop for musical tours and standup comics. The Island Showroom is a larger theater-style venue while Club Four One offers free live music on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights.

If you’re an RV traveler, the resort has 42 sites available between May 1 and November 30. You will need to call the resort at 1-877-475-7375 to make your reservation (online reservations are unavailable).

Can you bet on sports at Island Resort & Casino?

Yes, you can bet on sports at Island Resort & Casino. The venue has a partnership with SI Sportsbook (which we’ll touch on more below) that allows Michigan sports gambling enthusiasts to make their wagers at the casino.

SI Sportsbook kiosks can be found inside the sportsbook area, outside of T. McC’s bar, and at the casino cashier. There are 14 kiosks throughout the venue, all of which operate on a cash-only basis (also, you cannot use bonus credits to place a sports bet).

All wagers carry a $5 minimum bet. Maximums will vary depending on the sports you’re gambling on and the wager type you’re playing.

The sportsbook is open 24/7, and players do not need to register to participate.

Partnership between Island Resort & Casino and SI Sportsbook explained

Island Resort & Casino was able to forge a partnership with SI Sportsbook MI as a result of the former’s initial partnership with 888 Holdings. The three companies came together to launch SI Sportsbook in Michigan in September 2022.

Before the Michigan launch, SI Sportsbook was only operating in Colorado and Virginia. Today, the sportsbook only operates in those three states, though there are concerns about SI’s long-term future.

In March 2024, 888 Holdings announced it was looking to sell all or part of its U.S. consumer businesses. If SI Sportsbook is forced to shut down as a result of these sales, Island Resort & Casino will immediately look for a new sports betting partner to continue providing a top-notch sports gambling experience to casino patrons.
